Vijayawada: The Krishna Lanka police in the city took two persons-a woman and her son-in-law-into their custody on the charges of uploading the photograph of a woman on Facebook timeline to attract prospective men in order to cheat them.
The woman, who noticed her picture on Facebook, lodged a complaint with police stating that she was depicted as a prostitute. The police, who launched the probe into the complaint, were taken aback to find that the photos of various other women were also uploaded by the 45-year-old woman and her son-in-law inviting men to have sex with the women in the Facebook timeline.
They also uploaded a number of pictures of various women in the Facebook. They registered the criminal case under cyber laws and launched further investigation. Police found during the investigation that the duo had already cheated about 20 men and duped them up to Rs 20 lakh. The police said that a cheating case under Section 420 of IPC was registered and investigation is on.
