Hyderabad: Isolated rain occurred at isolated places in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m on Tuesday. The Southwest monsoon was weak in the two regions, the Met department bulletin said.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) were: Srungavarapu Kota (Vizianagaram district) 4, Pusapatirega (Vizianagaram) 3, Nellimarla, Merakamudi Dam (both in Vizianagaram), Tuni (East Godavari), Narsipatnam (Visakhapatnam) and Pathapatnam (Srikakulam) 1 each.

The forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in the state from September 5 to 8. According to the bulletin, an upper air cyclonic circulation at 7.6 km above the mean sea level lies over west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha¬-north Andhra Pradesh coasts. A low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and its neighbor-hood during next 48 hours.
