Youth attacks patient at Guntur General Hospital in a fit of rage
An attendant of a patient attacked another patient with a surgical blade after a heated argument over a petty issue at the Guntur General Hospital here on Thursday
Guntur: An attendant of a patient attacked another patient with a surgical blade after a heated argument over a petty issue at the Guntur General Hospital here on Thursday.
According to police, Shaik Saida, a resident of Nallakunta area in the city, fell from the running train at Vishupurm and was undergoing treatment at the GGH orthopedic ward.
SK Khajavali, a resident of Janmabhoomi Nagar in the city, was injured in car accident and was undergoing treatment at the GGH. When both the patients were undergoing treatment in the same ward, they became friends.
Meanwhile, Shaik Saida's son Hussain came to the hospital to see his father and had a dispute with his father over a property issue. While they were quarrelling, Khajavali intervened and supported Shaik Saida.
Hussain vented his ire at Khajavali for supporting his father and picked up an argument with the latter. He attacked Khajavali with a surgical blade. Khajavali sustained injuries on his throat and has been shifted to the emergency ward for treatment.
GGH superintendent Dr DS Raju Naidu said: "Khajavali, who sustained injuries on his throat in the attack, was undergoing treatment in the emergency ward in the hospital. Doctors performed surgery and providing treatment to him.
He is out of danger. Doctors keep surgical blades in the orthopedic ward to cut bandages of the patients. In a fit rage, the accused took the surgical blade and attacked patient Khajavali. Khajavali is out of danger and his condition is improving. Kothapet police registered a case and took up investigation.
