Kothavalasa (Vizianagaram): The opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that there is no development in the state, but only corruption prevails. The TDP government has looted people and ruined every department in the state, he charged.

On Monday, the YSRCP president unveiled a pylon in Kothavalasa Mandal of S Kota Assembly constituency in Vizianagaram district on the occasion of completion of 3,000 kms of his padayatra. Later, addressing the public meeting, he lambasted the state government.

``This constituency has been represented by a single family for the past three decades. But there is not even a single project or scheme which was completed, he said.

“There is a need to enhance the capacity of Tatipudi project. But so far, it has not been done. Unless the Polavaram project is completed, the capacity of the projects can't be enhanced. The Polavaram was started by YS Rajasekhara Reddy and the works were also continued on war footing basis. But the present government simply increased the estimates for the benefit the contractors,’’ Jagan flayed.

He said, “the TDP leaders are busy squeezing money from sand, soil, water, mines and others. No new industry is established in the segment and thousands lost their jobs in TDP regime. During YSR ruling, Sarada Steel Company, Gold Star, Mahamaya Industries were established. TDP leaders are also demanding huge bribes from realtors.’’

The hospital at Kothavalasa is not upgraded and a junior college is yet to be established in S Kota. Even out-sourcing jobs, shift operators, ration dealers, anganwadi posts are being sold at high price, the opposition leader charged.

“Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu closed the Bheemasingi Cooperative Sugar factory in his previous regime, but later YSR re-opened it and supported the firm. Again, the plant is saddled with debts of Rs 43 crore and faces the threat of closure.

We should teach the TDP a lesson with our votes,’’ Jagan stated. The land under cultivation has come down from 71 lakh hectares to 51 lakh hectares. The condition of farmers has drastically worsened, he added.
