Kadapa: To increase the storage capacity of Gandikota Reservoir up to 30 tmcft, the state government has sanctioned Rs 230 crore for land acquisition. During his visit to Kadapa district a month ago, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had announced another Lift Irrigation Scheme on Gandikota Reservoir.

The project was designed with a storage capacity of 30 tmcft for providing water to 2 lakh acres in Pulivendula constituency during the regime of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2009. “Farmers of Pulivendula constituency have never dreamt of getting water for agriculture needs.

Now, I will have enough water through the canals of Gandikota Reservoir,” V Ramalinga Reddy, a farmer from Ankalamma Gudur in Pulivendula mandal told The Hans India.
