Akiveedu: The Congress leaders headed by former TTD chairman K Bapiraju launched door-to-door campaign of the party here on Tuesday.
He requested people to contribute Re 1 per head to strengthen the party.
He along with others garlanded statue of Mahatma Gandhi and termed that the Congress was the party of the poor.
Each rupee of the contributions from the party sympathizers should be used to carry out the party programmes, he said.
He reminded that AICC president Rahul Gandhi had promised to accord the Special Category Status to the state, if it would be voted to power in next elections.
