Srikakulam: Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Srikakulam is in dire need of three more gynic wards to attend the pregnant woman and lactating mothers at the hospital.
Every year more than 4,000 pregnant women admit at the hospital for delivery. Although the hospital is providing the services to the needed it has become hard for them to function now.
The RIMS was established in 2008 by the then Congress government by late Chief Minister YS Rajasekar Reddy. At that time, one gynecology ward was established with 60 beds and till the same facilities are available here even after ten years of its establishment.
The state government recently sanctioned 19 new gynecology wards for seven teaching hospitals across the state. Anantapur and Tirupati teaching hospitals got two new wards each.
Other five teaching hospitals at Kurnool, Tirupati, Guntur, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam are getting three new wards each. But Srikakulam was not among them.
“We have been requesting the government for another gynecology ward for the last ten years. But the government is yet to take a decision on it,” said RIMS Director Krishna Veni to The Hans India. “We are providing services by making adjustment of doctors and at least two more gynecology wards are required here,” said RIMS gynecology professor Dr Y L Narasinga Rao.
1,163 anganwadi centres to get power soon In total, 1,163 anganwadi centres across the district will get power connections. The district has 4,192 anganwadi centres of which 1,163 are having their own buildings constructed by the government.
