Abhaya Gold Agents and Customers Welfare Association district unit honorary president and CPI district secretary Dega Prabhakar called upon the depositors to wage a unified fight to get back their deposits

Eluru: Abhaya Gold Agents and Customers Welfare Association district unit honorary president and CPI district secretary Dega Prabhakar called upon the depositors to wage a unified fight to get back their deposits.

He addressed the association city committee meeting held here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar requested the depositors to join hands on the lines of AgriGold depositors to get justice.

He reminded the depositors that the state government appointed a Cabinet sub-committee to deal with AgriGold deposits after four years of fight by the customers. In the same way the government would have to concede their demand to return deposits, if all of them come under one common platform and intensify struggle.

He alleged that Abhaya Gold had duped the customers of their deposits worth Rs 400 crore. Though the company chief K Srinivas was arrested under various cases their deposits were not returned. He was leading a luxurious life with the hard earned money of the customers.

Even the police were helping him, he alleged. About three lakh depositors had lost their deposits. The total votes of these affected families account for 12 lakh and the issue of Abhaya Gold would prove costly for any political party which ignores them, he added.
