Vijayawada: It was a delightful Sunday for the hundreds of families, who visited picturesque Bhavani island in Krishna river during their vacation. The Bhavani Island Tourism Development Corporation has developed the island by growing beautiful plants and installing dozens of beautiful sculptures and idols.

Musician fountain, Amphi theatre, Maze garden, adventure games are attracting the visitors. Besides, tea and coffee kiosks, restaurants and eateries are catering to the needs of visitors by offering varieties of items. Bhavani island became one of the ideal destinations for visitors in the city on holidays.

Hundreds of children and youngsters had a great fun with Zip line, Spider web and other play toys arranged in the island. Besides, a selfie point became another attraction as youngsters are enjoying taking selfies with beloved ones. The sculptures of lion, deer, Gautam Buddha and creative works added beauty to the island.

Though the Karhika maasam ended, the impact of festive season continues in the city as many people visited Bhavani island and open gardens on Sunday. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation is operating four boats from Punnami ghat to Bhavani island from morning to evening. By paying nominal amount, the visitors can spend joyfully from morning to evening relaxing in the island.

K Deepti, an intermediate student, visited the Bhavani island, said she was impressed with the greenery and scenic beauty of island. She along with her parents visited the island and spent holiday enjoying with the family. Parents too joyfully spent the Sunday by relaxing under the trees.

In addition to APTDC, some private boat operators are operating adventurous boats for the tourists at the island. Keeping in view of the last year disastrous boat accident, the boat operators are taking all precautionary measures and asking the visitors to wear life jacket without fail while boating in Krishna river.

The APTDC has arranged adequate life jackets in the four boats and staff insisting that all visitors must wear life jackets without fail. Malleswara Rao, boating manager of APTDC, said the corporation needs two more boats to cater to the demands of visitors during the festival seasons. He said the boating staff are taking all necessary precautions to curb accidents and for the safety of visitors while boating.
