The Grand i10 has turned into Hyundai’s more popular offerings globally and now the South Korean automaker has spruced up the hatchback further for the South East Asian market.

Hyundai’s Indonesian arm has launched the Grand i10X crossover in the country, which is essentially a pseudo crossover that comes with a host of external upgrades for that rugged look including black plastic cladding on the lower section and around the wheel arches; skid plates at the front and rear, LED DRLs, new 14-inch alloy wheels, sporty chrome finished exhaust tip and a roof spoiler.

The interior continues to remain the same as the regular version sporting a multi-function steering with tilt function, console mounted gear shift lever, 2-DIN audio system, LED instrument cluster with ice blue illumination, cooled glovebox and cup holders.

In terms of power, the Grand i10X draws power from the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine churning out 87 PS at 6000 RPM and 120 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM (Indian spec version makes 83 PS and 116 Nm), paired only to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Unlike India, the Indonesian market still hasn’t seen a crossover segment yet, and the Hyundai Grand i10X will be the first-of-its-kind offering in the country. Interestingly, the hatchback is shipped to Indonesia from Hyundai India’s Chennai based facility and the ‘X’ version is also exported from the Indian plant.

Considering that the Korean automaker does not retail the Elite i20 or i20 Active in the South East Asian country, the rugged version of the Grand i10 seems to have worked out in the best way for the company. Hyundai has priced the Grand i10X crossover at 155.5 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs. 7.50 lakhs) which puts it right between the base GL and top-end GLS variants.
