New Delhi : TVS Motor Company showcases TVS Akula 310 motorcycle at 2016 Auto Expo.

Rushlane was first to break the story about TVS unveiling a concept bike based on the BMW G310R at 2016 Auto Expo. Well, here it is.

BMW G310R based TVS Akula 310 Concept is being showcased at Auto Expo 2016. It has been and has been co-developed by TVS and BMW.

TVS Akula 310 Concept shares parts, engine and platform with BMW G310R, but it has been stylized in individuality. The BMW bike will cater to making available an affordable Beemer while the TVS Akula 310 will look to target larger sales volume, similar to Bajaj Auto and KTM offerings.

Both BMW G310R and TVS Apache RTR 300 get power from a 313cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine with maximum power output of 34bhp at 9,500rpm, and peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm mated to a six-speed manual unit. BMW G310R and TVS Akula 310 will be sold in India, but there’s no clarity on sales channels right now. BMW Motorrad doesn’t have a wide sales network in India, and marketing the product by themselves will entail a considerable investment.

TVS Akula 310 concept is a fully faired sportsbike based on BMW G310R, codenamed U69. Production ready TVS Akula 310 is planned for launch by January 2017, before making debut later this year.
