Skoda recently revealed the cabin of its upcoming compact SUV, the Kamiq, which is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019 Its Volkswagen counterpart, the TCross, was revealed late last year
How does the Kamiq’s interior compare to that of its sibling, the T-Cross? We find out
-
The Kamiq and T-Cross are both built on the MQB A0 platform.
-
Volkswagen Group is working on localising this platform for India.
-
The Kamiq is expected to come to India by the end of 2020.
Skoda recently revealed the cabin of its upcoming compact SUV, the Kamiq, which is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2019. Its Volkswagen counterpart, the T-Cross, was revealed late last year. Both of these Hyundai Creta-rivals are expected to be launched here by the end of 2020 under Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 business plan. Here are the basic differences between the interiors of the upcoming compact SUVs from the VW Group.
-
Steering Wheel: The Kamiq sports a regular round steering wheel whereas the T-Cross gets a more sporty-looking, flat-bottom steering wheel.
-
Dual-tone dashboard: The T-Cross can be had with a dual-tone dashboard in global markets. However, in case of the Kamiq, that can’t be seen in the current set of pictures. Skoda could offer it as an option on higher variants though.
Kamiq's Interior
-
Touchscreen: The infotainment screen on the Kamiq is a free-standing unit. The T-Cross, however, gets one that is embedded into the dashboard. Both SUVs offer up to 8-inch capacitive touchscreen displays equipped with Volkswagen Group’s latest Modular Infotainment Matrix (MIB).
-
Air-con vents: The T-Cross’ side air con vents get an asymmetrical design. On the Kamiq however, the side as well as the central air-con vents are symmetrical.
-
Boot Space: The Kamiq gets a 400-litre boot, which can be extended by folding the rear seats. The T-Cross, on the other hand, gets a rear seat that’s attached on rails, which lets you slide it forward or backward for more room. This allows variable leg- or boot space based on your needs. The Brazil-spec T-Cross offers 373-420 litres of boot space.
T-Cross' interior
-
The Kamiq and T-Cross get a 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument console, which is also present on other cars from the VW Group.
-
Both SUVs also get wireless charging support for your smartphone.
While we pretty much know everything about the Volkswagen T-Cross, information about the Skoda Kamiq is limited as the SUV has not yet been officially revealed. That will be done in March at the prestigious Geneva Motor Show. Till then, stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest information about Skoda’s upcoming SUV.
