Infrastructure hurdles in Visakhapatnam notwithstanding, the 22nd Partnership Summit organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Andhra Pradesh government in the coastal city earlier this week received appreciation from foreign delegates. Nearly 400 delegates from as many as 41 countries attended the three-day event – the first attempt from AP to attract investments - that was held at temporary venue set up at Visakhapatnam’s Habour Park. The summit attended by about 1,600 delegates from India and abroad had succeeded into getting investments and projects worth Rs 6 lakh crore for Andhra Pradesh.

“The event is very well organised. I am impressed. I think they have done a great job. Given this (venue) is all temporary, it doesn’t feel temporary. It feels like a permanent venue,” Angus Cambell, Chief Executive Officer, Bahrain Financial Harbour Holding Company B.S.C., told The Hans India at on the sidelines of the Partnership Summit.

UK-born Cambell who landed in the steel city from Bahrain to take part in the three-day event also said that the venue was kept clean throughout. “There are also lots of volunteers around the place to see that everything goes smoothly,” he maintained.

According to him, CII’s Bahrain office invited him to attend the event so that he could meet people here. “I have met a large number of delegates here. It’s a nice experience,” he said. Giving 8 marks on a scale of 10 for the way the summit was organised, Takabatake, Vice President and Product Planning Director of China-based Cybrid Technologies Inc, said: “This event is good and well-organised”.

He maintained that Visakhapatnam was more peaceful than Mumbai. “Two months ago, I attended an exhibition in Mumbai. Mumbai city is not so good. But this city (Vizag) is good. Also, it’s peaceful,” he added. His company which provides polymer material solutions has signed a MoU with AP government at the event.
