New Delhi : The Centre on Monday stated that the e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods will be rolled out in four more states and one union territory on Wednesday.

As per the Ministry of Finance, the e-way bill system is being introduced to four states starting April 25, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Sikkim, and will also be rolled out in Puducherry.

It also noted that as on April 22, more than 1,84,000 e-way bills have been successfully generated, which includes more than 22,00,000 e-way bills for intra-state movement of goods.

With the rollout of e-way bill system in these states/Union Territory, the ministry said trade and industry would be further facilitated insofar as the transport of goods is concerned, thereby eventually paving the way for a nationwide single bill system.

As per the decision of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council, the e-way bill system for all inter-state movement of goods was rolled out from April 1, along with that for intra-state movement of goods in Karnataka.

The new system was implemented from April 15 in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh.

On Tuesday, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi stated that the e-way bill mechanism for intra-state movement of goods would be rolled out on April 20 in six states, namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
