Tirupati: As the Centre is keen on going ahead with the State’s division, the Gazetted Officers’ Association plans to intensify the Samaikyandhra agitation with the aim of forcing a rollback of the decision. “Our only demand is do not divide the State. Whatever the consequences, we are firm about continuing the agitation till our demand is achieved”, said Y Ramachandra Reddy, Tirupati Revenue Divisional Officer, convener of the Gazetted Officers’ Joint Action Committee, here on Sunday.
Reddy asserted that the stir would continue, regardless of whether the government paid salaries or not. He said that gazetted officers would provide financial assistance to the lower rung staff either voluntarily or with help from public sector banks.
On Monday, all government employees would observe a day’s fast en masse at B R Ambedkar statue, near RTC bus station. All private primary schools had agreed to close from September 2. To coincide with the ‘Laksha Gala Samaikya Garjana’ on September 6, all private middle and high schools had also agreed to close indefinitely from September 7.
