Nawazuddin denies being tagged as an actor of parallel cinema. “There are only two types of movies, good and bad. I choose movies based on their scripts. I found ‘Badlapur’ script very interesting and came on board,” he added. When asked about promoting the movie in city after the ‘Roy’ boycott. Varun said that he wasn't aware of what happened at the promotion of 'Roy'. “I always liked the Hyderabad media since the promotion of 'Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya',” he signed off.
