Producer of ‘#Pellichoopulu’ talks about making the movie and wanting to work with the cast again

Newly released movie, ‘#Pellichoopulu’ has been running houseful boards from last week. The movie was produced by Yash Rangineni and the lesser known Raj Kandukuri. In an interaction with media person in the city on Tuesday, Yash shared his experiences that helped him reach where he is.

Being born and raised in Hyderabad, the producer speaks about his break into movies. He says, “I was always movie crazy. I used to spend my summers at my grandparent’s in Mahabubnagar. My grandfather was a landlord and he helped actors and artistes of the place to stage dramas. He provided these artistes with the support they needed to sustain the art form while also paying for their education and food needs.”

Talking about his association with Raj Kandukuri, Yash says, “Raj has been a very good friend. He has pitched many story ideas out of which ‘#Pellichoopulu’ was one that caught my ear. Earlier, it was decided that the name of the movie would be ‘Anukokunda’. But, that title was registered by a short film (by Tarun Bhaskar) and so we came up with ‘#Pellichoopulu’.”

Yash spoke about how challenging the film industry could be for a newbie. “I did not know much about the industry before I came into it. I just knew I was better at the management,” he says. Speaking about the movies’ pre-production, Yash informs, “For this movie’s script we used a ‘Cloud Softwear’ that helps everyone to be updated with the shooting process. We discussed scenes and shooting locations on WhatsApp group made for the movie and did video conferences on weekly bases to update each other on the progress.”

Sharing his experience with production, he says that their main aim was to identify young talent. A sum of over two crore rupees was spent on the movie. He keeps getting questioned if he would work with a start cast to which he always says, “If the content is good in quality, why not?”
When asked about his next project he reveals, “I have a plan of making a movie with the same cast as ‘#Pellichoopulu’ but nothing is written on stone yet.”
