Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of late actress Sridevi, made her acting debut last year with the film Dhadak. The movie was critically bashed but was a commercial success. Even Janhvi was praised for her performance. For her second venture, she wanted to go offbeat rather than using a commercial formula.
Thus, she signed the biopic of Gunjan Saxena, an air pilot who worked for Indian Air Force (IAF). Gunjan is known for her bravery shown in the 1999 Kargil war. As a tribute to her, this film is titled as Kargil Girl. Currently, the shoot is underway in nearby locations of Lucknow city.
The movie is being directed by Sharan Sharma. Actors Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi will be seen in other key roles in the film. It is expected to release in the latter half of this year.
