A Telugu television serial artiste duped an unemployed youth to the tune of Rs 5 lakh by promising him a role in a television serial, police told on Tuesday.According to police, Ramudu Prasad of Mehdipatnam wanted to become an actor and he met one Vishnu, who is acting in a couple of daily soaps. Vishnu demanded Rs 5 lakh to ensure a role for Ramudu in a reputed channel.

Vishnu demanded Rs 5 lakh to ensure a role for Ramudu in a reputed channel. “He also promised Ramudu that he would return the money in two months and also give a share in his business. Ramudu desperately waited for six months and when he got no response, he approached Vishnu to return his money.
Vishnu threatened Ramudu with dire consequences and refused to pay back,” the cops said, adding that the accused told Ramudu that a senior police officer was his close relative and they would impose cases on him if he asked money ever in the future. Scared by this, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint against Vishnu. Significantly, the senior police officer said he has no connection whatsoever with Vishnu. A case has been registered.
