Couple attempts suicide, wife dies, husband rescued
A 24-year-old man who allegedly tried to commit suicide in Hussainsagar lake on Monday along with his wife, was saved by the Lake Police but failed to rescue the wife in time.On Monday morning, the couple was seen walking into the water on the Upper Tank Bund area. A constable, Satyanarayana and home guard Karthik, spotted the couple and rushed to their rescue.

They caught hold of the man and dragged him to safety with the help of a rope but could not save the 23-year-old woman. According to police, the couple identified as Sravan and Pawani, both residents of Sikh Village in Secunderabad. “They were facing financial problems and were worried about their future, ” police said The couple has a one-and-half-year-old daughter, Sravika, the cops said. The body has been shifted to Gandhi mortuary for an autopsy while Sravan was shifted to the same hospital for treatment and reported to be stable.
