Girl sets herself ablaze due to eve-teasing

A Class X student identified as Bhargavi committed suicide by pouring kerosene and setting herself ablaze on Monday. The girl from Telangana Government High School, at Vemulapalli in Nalgonda district, had lodged a complaint with the police on Sunday evening after being harassed by a boy.

While the police had planned to counsel the boy, Bhargavi committed suicide. It is learnt that Bhargavi had been a victim of continuous eve-teasing and took the extreme step unable to deal with the harassment. The police have filed a case and are investigating.
