Telangana: Girl killed in public for rejecting marriage

An 18-year-old girl was murdered in public view in Adilabad district, Telangana on Saturday for rejecting a man. In the disturbing incident, the man slit her throat after the woman, identified as Sandhya rejected his marriage proposal.

The accused, 22-year-old Mahesh was a neighbour of Sandhya. The police informed that Sandhya had complained of being harassed by Mahesh who also tried to disrupt her engagement in January this year. Sandhya's family had even lodged a police complaint last year.

However, the police settled for a peace agreement between the two sides without taking any action against Mahesh. With the death of Sandhya, the police have arrested Mahesh and a case has been registered against him.
