Cops raid gambling den, take 28 persons into custody

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Taskforce, Balanagar, police raided a gambling den on Thursday and apprehended 28 persons. Five cars, 30 mobile phones besides cash of Rs 6.9 lakh were seized during the raid.
Acting on a tip off, a team led by Inspector Krishna Yadav, raided a farmhouse at Aliabad under Shameerpet police station limits. A businessman, Mohan Reddy, was organising the gambling in his own farmhouse at the commission of 10 per cent. The arrested persons along with the seized property were handed over to Shameerpet police station for further investigation.
In a separate incident, several ruling party leaders, including a divisional party president were caught in a SOT raid, while they were gambling under Kandukur police station of Rachakonda Commissionerate on Tuesday. Given the involvement of the ruling party leaders, the matter came to light a bit late, said a police officer. The SOT police nabbed 14 persons and seized Rs 2.6 lakh during the raid. The accused were presented before the magistrate, informed KV Vijay Kumar, Inspector of Kandukur police station.
