Mother’s paramour held for minor’s rape
The Meerpet police on Monday arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly raped a minor girl two days ago. The accused is said to be the paramour of the victim’s mother, who has been considered as the step-father of the victim.
Hyderabad: The Meerpet police on Monday arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly raped a minor girl two days ago. The accused is said to be the paramour of the victim’s mother, who has been considered as the step-father of the victim.
According to the police, the victim’s mother (32) was deserted by her husband about a decade ago over family disputes. Later, she entered into a living-in relationship with the accused. Her 12-year-old daughter, who is pursuing the seventh standard, was also living with them.
On Saturday afternoon, victim’s mother went to her routine labour work. However, when she reached home at night around 8, her daughter complained of stomach ache. Then, she enquired with her daughter and learnt that she had been raped.
The victim told her mother that the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone. However, the victim’s mother approached the police and lodged a complaint.
Meanwhile, the accused was absconding after a case was filed against him. He was arrested at R N Reddy Nagar X Road, while he was trying to escape.
A case has been registered under Section 376(2), 342, 506 IPC, and Section 5(m) (n) read with 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) with the Meerpet police, and further investigation is on.
