Medha 2014 finetunes B-school students. Mocking Manmohan Singh in a mock press conference, eating one-dozen bananas in a minute in Roadies competition, putting forth their best soft skills in Young Managers competition, ‘Medha-2014’, a one-day management meet organised by Department of Management Studies, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce, Sainikpuri, had it all.

Hyderabad: Mocking Manmohan Singh in a mock press conference, eating one-dozen bananas in a minute in Roadies competition, putting forth their best soft skills in Young Managers competition, ‘Medha-2014’, a one-day management meet organised by Department of Management Studies, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College of Science, Humanities and Commerce, Sainikpuri, had it all. The theme of the fest conducted here on Tuesday was “Competitive Strategies in Management-Emerging Trends and Issues”.

Nearly 600 students from 20 colleges in Hyderabad participated in the event. The competitions were divided into formal and informal. Formal events consisted of competitions like Young Managers where students were judged on their softskills; Fin-Maniacs where students had to analyse a company’s information and decide which company to invest in; Crucial Strikers where HR qualities of a person were tested and other events like SWOT IT, Dibattito, Ad Sharads were conducted.
Informal events consisted of Bhavan’s Premier League, a cricket match between colleges; Roadies, where students were made to do push-ups and eat one dozen bananas in one minute and RJ Hunt were also organised which grabbed attention of the participants as well as the audience.
Chief guest for the event, Lekha Sishta, Chief People Officer, GSS Infotech, encouraged students to compete with themselves and bring out the best in them. She advised students to be perseverant and to inculcate entrepreneurial attitude. She stressed on building team work and to have faith in one’s own self.
Other dignitaries present at the function were Air Commodore JLN Shastry, Vice Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan , Sainikpuri Kendra; Col M Vijay Rao, Honorary Director, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College; Prof. Y Ashok, Principal, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College; and Dr NS Chakravarthy, Head, Department of Management Studies, Bhavan’s Vivekananda College.
