Hyderabad: The TDP which has taken the GHMC elections as a litmus test, decided to deploy senior leaders and Ministers from Andhra Pradesh to take up intense campaign in areas dominated by people from Seemandhra region.

This was decided during a meeting chaired by party national general secretary Nara Lokesh at his residence here on Saturday. According to sources, during the meeting attended by Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, K Atchannaidu and P Sujatha, Lokesh suggested the names of around 15 TDP seniors from AP including some Ministers to take up poll canvassing on behalf of the TDP-BJP combine in Hyderabad.

Andhra leaders are likely to start campaigning from Sunday onwards, after attending another meeting with Lokesh. Meanwhile, Lokesh decided to hit the road to personally campaign for the TDP-BJP combine in the run-up to the GHMC polls from Sunday. “Our party general secretary Lokesh will be launching canvassing for GHMC polls by addressing a public meeting at Uppal on Sunday,” said a party leader.
