DEO initiates action against 152 unrecognised schools

Cautions parents not to admit children there

The department of education and district administration has identified 152 schools in Hyderabad which are not recognised. These schools might be locked any time by the administration. It is reported that the Hyderabad District Education Officer (DEO) has released the list of 152 unrecognised schools and has requested the parents not to admit their children in these schools. A large number of unrecognised schools are situated in Old City. The department of administration is gearing up to take action against the management of such schools.

Legal action could be taken against such schools. It was found that in Golconda, Shaikpet, Asif Nagar and in Saidabad Mandals, a large number of unrecognised schools are functioning. There is a proposal to launch awareness campaign in these areas. It is reported that the district administration in Visakhapatnam has erected notice boards warning the parents not to send their children to unrecognised schools. A similar campaign is likely to be started by DEO Hyderabad.

The officials of DEO contend that notices were issued to more than 500 unrecognszed schools two years back, of which 100 schools have obtained affiliation certificates. The managements of 152 schools have not expressed any reaction on the notices issued to them and hence it is proposed to take action against them.
