Nizamabad: Members belonging to the Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU) lashed out at the indifference of the State government towards the contact lectures and students of various junior and degree colleges. Protesting against the negligence, they burnt down the effigy of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at the Dharna Chowk in the town on Saturday.

Later, speaking to the media, State PDSU vice-president M Sudhakar said that there were 31 government junior colleges and 10 degree colleges in the two districts of Nizamabad and Kamareddy and demanded justice to the students of these colleges. He said that the government must hold discussions with the contract lecturers who were on dharna for the last ten days and persuade them to join duties.

Similarly, the justifiable demands of the students should be accepted, he added.The PDSU leader said that in some of the colleges, there were only one Principal who was permanent and all the lecturers were temporarily on contract basis. As a result, the students of such colleges were suffering, he lamented. He said that it was important that lecturers join duties and guide the students, as examination were nearing.PDSU city president Kalpana, city vice-president Prashant and district PDSU leader Prashanti were present.
