DSA summer coaching camps begin in IGMC stadium
City Mayor, Koneru Sridhar and Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao inaugurated the Krishna District Sports Authority (DSA) summer coaching camp at Indra Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city on Monday, May 1. DSA is conducting 20 camps in Vijayawada and 30 camps at several mandal head quarters in Krishna district.
City Mayor, Koneru Sridhar and Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao inaugurated the Krishna District Sports Authority (DSA) summer coaching camp at Indra Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium in the city on Monday, May 1. DSA is conducting 20 camps in Vijayawada and 30 camps at several mandal head quarters in Krishna district.
Speaking on the occasion City Mayor Koneru Sridhar said that Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is giving top priority to sports and games on par with education. In addition to DSA summer camps VMC is also conducting summer coaching camps at IGMC stadium and several Municipal schools, he said.
Moreover he suggested that students would participate in summer camps and learn different techniques which will come to use while competing. He urged the parents to motivate their children and get them to participate in at least one sports discipline.
Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Uma Maheswara Rao said that the state government is planning to implement sports and games compulsory in schools and colleges. With the New Sports Policy rural areas will also be getting sports amenities, he said.
Later, Mayor, MLA and others inaugurated all sports and games coaching camps at IGMC stadium.
Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Officer on Special Duty (OSD) P Rama Krishna, Yoga coordinator Ravindranath, DSDO Md Sirazuddhin, senior Physical Education Teacher (PET) Eeda Sulochana, sports association representatives and others participated.
