The Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in association with Ramineni Foundation, conducted a colorful dance ballet

Vijayawada: The Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, in association with Ramineni Foundation, conducted a colorful dance ballet Goda Kalyanam at the open-air auditorium of Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College here on Monday evening.

This is a well-known story of Godadevi and Ranganatha Swamy. Dr Rallabandi Kavita Prasad, Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar and Dr KV Satyanarayana penned the ballet. Fine music was composed by Kumara Suryanarayana and DSV Sastry and choreographed by KV Satyanarayana.

Sriya Laalitha and Srila Hyndhavi performed the main roles of Godadevi and Ranganatha Swamy. Both the dancers are students from the United States of America. Right from their childhood, they started learning Kuchipudi dance. Sriya and Srila had their training from Bala Kondala Rao, KV Satyanarayana and Suvarna Pappu. They gave many performances individually and jointly at several places in America and in India.

Ch Srinivas, Saimanoj, Anjali, Venkat, Nihita, Hanisha Chowdary, Ch Tanmayi, Sai Manjula and K Tanmayi performed the other roles in the ballet. The artistes performed well and the expressions and movements of the Sriya, Srila, Srinivas, Anjali, Saimanoj were appreciated by the audience gathered in the auditorium.

In a brief meeting, Deputy Speaker Mandali Budha Prasad said, “The ballet was excellent and the artistes will have a bright future. He appreciated Sriya and Srilu for their commitment towards the art form. He congratulated the organisers for the vibrant dance ballet. Dhulipalla Narendra, Dr D Vijaya Bhaskar and others also participated in the event.
