• GHMC ignores important areas to install public toilets
• Commuters urinate at the boundary wall of government school

Despite Swachh Hyderabad took an initiative to install public toilets in the city, there are areas including Vijaynagar Colony, Langer House, Karwan and Ziaguda where public toilets are essential but are ignored by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) because of which hundreds of people urinate on the roads and footpaths everyday ignoring the painted notice which restricts urination on the wall.

Government school principal Suresh Kumar said “Students spend eight hours of their time in school where the stink is unbearable because of which we had to shift the classes to the other side of the school building, but still students pass through the road bearing the bad smell which is not good for health. The urine has almost degraded the boundary wall of the school, it is a problem for students, teachers, and to everyone who pass by the road”.

Mandal Revenue office of Asif Nagar officials said, “Many people visit Mandal Revenue Office every day and they had to pass through this unpleasant smell on the road. The GHMC has cleaned the road several times but never had given thought to install a toilet which is a necessity”.

A School teacher said, “There are no public toilets in this area, so this is a place where people stop by and urinate, no pedestrian can pass through this place without pursing their nose and this place is getting and ugly every day”.

When enquired Vijaynagar Colony Corporator Salma Ameen said she was not aware of the issue since nobody had complained about it yet.
