ZP road to don 34 high mast lights
Local corporator Ramavath Padma Srinu Naik laid foundation to 34 high mast lights works worth Rs 12 lakh at ZP Road on Thursday. She said that recently they laid the road that would connect Jillalaguda to BN Reddy Nagar via Meerpet, Karmanghat, Champapet and Nandavanam Colony.
Hastinapuram: Local corporator Ramavath Padma Srinu Naik laid foundation to 34 high mast lights works worth Rs 12 lakh at ZP Road on Thursday. She said that recently they laid the road that would connect Jillalaguda to BN Reddy Nagar via Meerpet, Karmanghat, Champapet and Nandavanam Colony.
Previously, there was a kaccha road to BN Reddy Nagar. After taking charge as corporator she strived to get funds and completion of road works within eight months, Padma claimed. But lack of street lights at main junction of the road caused inconvenience to the people. She said that by keeping this issue in mind, she allotted Rs 12 lakh to street lights.
Srikumar, a resident said, “This initiative will help in several ways. The number of chain-snatching and eve-teasing cases would come down considerably. Last year there were several chain-snatching cases and women would avoid the road especially after sunset. Raghuveer, a resident of Chandanagar said, “The next challenge would be to protect these lights from anti-social elements.”
The corporator instructed the officials to complete the works on war footing basis. GHMC LB Nagar Circle electric EE Harikrishna, assistant engineers Narasimha Raju and Divya, TRS leaders Raghuma Reddy, Ravinder Reddy and Gopal Naik, Ward members Indra Reddy, Nagesh Goud and Sayeed, contractor Subba Reddy were present.
