Hyderabad: Dawat-e-Iftaar for differently-abled persons was organised at Decent Function Hall in Mehdipatnam on Saturday. Differently-abled persons attended the iftar in large numbers.

Organised by Ideal Information Centre for Disabled (IICD) based in Azampura near Chaderghat, the iftar party programme was attended by Hamid Mohammed Khan, president, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (TS) as guest of honour, while Md Rashaduddin, chairman, IICD presided over the function.

IICD is part of social project by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind which started the Ideal School for deaf several years ago and has been running to cater the educational needs of the deaf and dumb students from nursery to class IIX (registered by Govt). About 70 students are currently enrolled in the school with hostel facilities being run in Azampura area in Malakpet. While a similar centre is also run by IICD for blind where about 20 students undertake classes in Braille at its centre in Mehdipatnam.

The students at both centres also learn computers and other job-oriented courses. Both the centres run weekly programmes on socialising, which remains one of the major activities conducted for interaction among them. Specially-abled from outside these centres also attend to interact or learn new things in the special programmes like this iftaar party.
