Melodious morning recital
Surmandal in association with Secunderabad Club and Konkani Association organised a morning concert by ‘Flute Sisters’ Suchismita Chatterjee and Debopriya Ranadive at the Sailing Club Annexe.’ Flute Sisters’, Suchismita and Debopriya hail from a family of musicians. Their parents Robin and Krishna Chatterjee are well known musicians and trained their kids in vocal.

Surmandal in association with Secunderabad Club and Konkani Association organised a morning concert by ‘Flute Sisters’ Suchismita Chatterjee and Debopriya Ranadive at the Sailing Club Annexe.’ Flute Sisters’, Suchismita and Debopriya hail from a family of musicians. Their parents Robin and Krishna Chatterjee are well known musicians and trained their kids in vocal.
They received their initial flute training under the guidance of late Bholanath Prasanna, at Allahabad. Currently, they are training under Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. They have performed at various music conferences and soirees, in Delhi, Allahabad, Kolkata, Belgium, Holland, London, Dubai, Sri Lanka and Muscat.
They have performed in India’s most prestigious music conferences ‘Kal Ke Kalakar’ and ‘Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan’.They have to their credit audio releases like ‘Beyond Dusk’ released by Questz and ‘Guru Shishya’ released by Sense World Music.The artistes opened the concert with a melodious ‘Alaap’ in Raga Ahir Bhairav. After ‘Jod’ they played a composition in seven beats, ‘Rupak Taal’ and followed it with a fast paced composition in sixteen beat Teentaal.
This was followed by a composition in Raga Hamsdhwani set to Teentaal.The sisters further played a folk tune from the land of Bengal. They concluded the recital with the Bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan Toh’ and ‘Om Jai Jagadeesh Hare’.They were accompanied on Tabla by Najmuddin Qadri.
