Youth asked to strive for development of the nation

Karimnagar: Members of Swamy Vivekananda Utsava Samithi, as part of 150th birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda, organised a programme in the town on Wednesday. District Collector M Veera Brahmaiah, who was the chief guest, garlanded the portrait of Swamy Vivekananda and paid tributes to the great seer.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Veera Brahmaiah said that the country has maximum number of youth in the world. So, there is much scope for the all-round development of the nation by utilizing the youth force. Youth should follow the principles and ideals of the great spiritual leader Swamy Vivekananda and have to strive for the development of the nation, he said.

RSS Vibhag (unit) Pracharak Chakrala Ramanjaneyulu, in his address, has said that patriotism is more essential for youth. They should worship Bharatmata on par with other gods and goddesses, he said. DEO Kandimalla Lingaiah gave a call to youth to take active role in the development activities of the nation.

District Supply Officer Sathyavani, Samithi vice-president Chalmeda Rajeswara Rao, secretary Gajula Ravinder, members Chakradhar, Dr Chakravarthula Ramanachary, Olympic Association general secretary Madhusudhan Reddy and others were present.

Earlier, the Collector inaugurated a 2-k run to mark the 120th anniversary of speech given by Swamy Vivekananda in Chicago in USA. Nearly 7,000 students from various colleges in the town and surrounding areas, teachers and youth participated in the rally.

In Metpally, the 2-k run was launched at Mini Stadium and passed through the main roads. The rally culminated in a public meeting at te town bus station. Local leaders garlanded the portrait of Swamy Vivekananda and paid tributes to him. RSS District Sanchalak Dr Sankar, former MLA A Komireddy Ramulu, Tahsildar Bhupathi Reddy, Ibrahimpatnam MDO Sandho, Excise CI Lakshman and Lions Club members participated in the programme.

Adilabad: Members of Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organised a massive rally (Run for the Nation) in the town as part of 150th birth anniversary celebration of Swamy Vivekananda on Tuesday. The portrait of Swamy Vivekananda was taken out in a procession though the main streets of the town. Nearly 200 students from different colleges participated in the rally. Programmes were also held in Nirmal, Bhainsa, Asifabad, Bellampalli, Kagaznagar, Khanapur, Mandamarri, Manchiryal and other places. In Manchiryal, the rally was held from Bellampalli Cross Roads to IB (Inspection Bungalow).
