Karimnagar: Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu laid foundation stone for Integrated Drinking Water Scheme (IDWS) works being undertaken with World Bank funds worth Rs 8.90 crore at Battupalli village of Manthani mandal in Karimnagar district on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the government was striving for the development of rural areas and was giving top priority for providing basic facilities in the villages. ‘‘The drinking water scheme being arranged by the Rural Water Supply department will supply Godavari river water to several villages in the mandal. The scheme is expected to serve the drinking water needs of around 77 villages once completed. The government has set up several drinking water schemes to provide safe drinking water in rural areas in the district in the past also,’’ he added.
Later, the Minister flagged off the Congress Party’s bike rally at Manthani town. Revenue Divisional Officer Ayesha Khan, RWS SE Haribabu, District Library Chairman P Chandrasekhar Reddy and others were present.
