Nalgonda: With Musi project in Nalgonda receiving huge inflows due to sudden cloudburst in Hyderabad on Monday, the officials of the project have lifted the six gates of the project upto 3 feet on Tuesday.

As per the official information, inflows to the project was 6,000 cusecs while outflow was 12,000 cusecs. Assistant Engineer of the project Mamatha informed that flood waters from upper areas were likely to reach the project by Tuesday midnight and the inflow could cross 50,000 cusecs.

She further informed all the 12 radial crust gates would be lifted if the flow of flood waters increases further. She advised the villagers living in the downstream of the project not to go near project canal areas to avoid any untoward incidents.

Showing its aggressive flow in Bhoodan Pochampally and Valigonda mandals, Musi was flowing over Rudravelly-Juluru bridge and Batugudem-Devalapalli bridge breaking the road link to Bibinagar mandal in Yadadri district.

Apart from this, water flow in Bikeru rivulet, adjoining Musi at Vardhaman Kota village in Suryapet district, also increased leading to overflow of several village tanks.

There are 40,000 acres of ayacut under Musi project covering Nakrekal and Ketapalli mandals in Nalgonda district and Suryapet mandal in Suryapet district.
