Khammam: CPM party leader Y Vikram demanded the government to withdraw the decision of shutting down fair price shops in the State.

In this regard, the representatives of the party submitted a memorandum to District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar here in Khammam on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram alleged that the government was supplying as many as nine different items to the poor through ration shops and many would suffer and die of hunger if it shuts down the shutters of these fair price shops.

Stating that many people were started worrying over the government’s move, he said transferring of money directly to the accounts of beneficiary was not justifiable.

Meanwhile, the District Collector assured the CPM representatives of taking the issue to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Party leaders Narra Ramesh, K Guru Murthy, Hussain, Upendar Naik, Ganta Bhimaiah, Vasu, Sadanandam and Sharief were present along with others.
