Gadwal: Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, the Central government has allocated Rs 50 crore for Gadwal district.

The district administration has directed the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), District Water Management Agency (DWMA) and other agencies to provide employment to all the job cardholders in the district. As part of this, the officials have also taken up various works under the Employment Guarantee Scheme in the villages and rural areas of the district.

However, D K Aruna, MLA Gadwal, onTuesday alleged that the TRS party leaders in the district are not allowing the contractors to take up the development works and spreading fear that those contractors belonging to other parties would not get bills. As a result of this, the Contractors were reluctant to take up works, alleged Aruna.

The roads that were constructed during the Congress regime had suffered damage because of continuous digging of roads for mission Bhageeratha. She said a detailed report on the NREGA works being taken up by the TRS government would be complied and the same would be submitted to the Central government through the congress MP Nandi Yellaia.
