Vijayawada: The Krishna district non-political Joint Action Committee led by the APNGOs West Krishna chairman, A V Sagar, here on Thursday announced that they would organise 48-hour-long bandh in the district from September 11 in support of the movement for integrated State.

Speaking to the media, Sagar said that the employees, students, teachers, traders and industrialists were asked to join the bandh to express their support for integrated State. He said that the schools, colleges, banks, insurance companies, State and the Central government offices, business establishments, film exhibitors, hoteliers and every establishment in the district would remain closed for the two days. He said that the joint action committees from the village and mandal-level to the district-level would monitor the bandh by taking up rallies during the two days. However, he said that they would exempt emergency services from the bandh.

He also appealed to the employees to make the ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ meeting scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on September 7 a success. He said that the JACs from the district level would take up intensive campaign in the district to mobilise employees to take part in the Hyderabad meeting.

On September 6, the JACs would hold prayer services of all faiths to make the Hyderabad meeting a success followed by rallies and formation of human chains on the next day. On September 8, the JACs at the mandal-level were asked to do their own forms of protest while they were asked to join the Samaikya pooja for Lord Ganesh on September 9. On the next day, the JACs would paste stickers of ‘Stop Bifurcation – Save Andhra Pradesh’ on all trains heading to New Delhi. He said the trains carrying people from Andhra Pradesh would also give the message to the leaders at New Delhi.

The JACs would organise ‘Mahila Garjana’ on September 13 and resolutions at all gram panchayats against division of the State on September 14. He asked the people to make the protests a success and mount pressure on the Central government to withdraw the division proposal.
