Hyderabad: Taking strong objection to the way in which Chandrababu Naidu has been spending lavishly on the unproductive schemes and deekshas, YSR Congress has said that the June 2 Nava Nirmana Deeksha has been an unnecessary burden on the exchequer and the programmes are just redundant and have been renamed of what were done earlier.
‘This is sheer waste of public money and the opportunity is being used for political purpose and the manner in which he has been changing tunes has been very evident,’ party MLA and Chairman of PAC Buggana Rajendernath Reddy told reporters here on Monday.
The programmes and deekshas taken up with fanfare and jamboree by public money with no new content and are repetition of old schemes giving them new names and some of the schemes have lost their relevance. The irony has been that all programmes have become party affairs as there is no people’s participation as only party cadre and officials have been attending in the extravagant ceremonies.
The amount released for the Deeksha is said to be Rs 13 cores of which one-third of the amount was earmarked for publicity and TDP’s friendly media got a lion’s share of the amount.
During the previous year June 2 programme, Chandrababu Naidu has been bashing Congress left, right and centre and was on record stating that it was Congress that has been responsible for the plight of the state and it should be kept at a distance.
This year around the tune has changed and his closeness with the Congress leadership at the HD Kumaraswamy swearning-in was well established. The person who is so fickle-minded and has a hip-hop nature cannot be trusted, he said. The criticism of BJP shows how he can cross sides with ease and remarks on former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy are uncharitable, he said.
It is shameful for him to claim that he has given water to Pulivendula even and he has distanced himself from the people, he said.
