To find a solution to the parking woes in Hyderabad, Telangana chief secretary SK Joshi held a meeting with the Municipal Administration officials to collaborate with private parties for construction of multi-level parking complexes under Public Private Partnership(PPP) within a month.

Directing the officials to conduct feasibility studies on proposals, the Chief Secretary instructed them to incorporate package details and other issues, in the terms of reference, before requesting the proposal from the developers.

Mentioning that cities such as New York earn huge revenues in parking fees, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan addressed the meeting and said that the best practices in the world should be adopted in the state adding that parking areas should be between 100 sq yards to 500 sq yards land.

Principal secretary Arvind Kumar said the police department has conducted a survey on parking solutions. With Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited being the nodal agency for construction of multi-level parking in the city, managing director NVS Reddy said countries such as Germany, Japan, China and South Korea use the latest cutting-edge technology for construction and maintenance of similar complexes.

He said that the Multi-level parking complexes would be constructed at 42 locations across the city under Public Private Partnership mode.
