NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi was named the top newsmaker in India for the year 2018, by the Yahoo Year in Review list. The PM has continued his stint on the Review after featuring at the top of the list for at least a couple of years now.
This year, he is followed by Congress president Rahul Gandhi. Former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, post his iconic verdicts on triple talaq and Article 377 has featured third on this list.
Next on the list were people notorious for their less-than-impressive actions : M J Akbar, Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi respectively. To say they were newsmakers for this year would be an understatement, considering the significant buzz around them both on traditional and social media.
Bollywood wasn’t far away from this race with newly weds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh making news under the couples category. Taimur Ali Khan all of under two years old, was the youngest entrant to this list which comes as no surprise.
The star kid sends the internet on a frenzy every time he steps out. Priya Prakash Varrier, whose wink in the Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love " broke the Internet" made it to the list as well.
