Mahbubnagar: Sarpanches play a very crucial role for the development of the villages, said DK Aruna, Minister for Information and Public Relations, here on Saturday while inaugurating the two-day awareness programme for the sarpanches of the district at SVS Auditorium.
The Minister said that the sarpanches should strive hard wholeheartedly for the overall development of respective villages to make the district an exemplary in the State. She said that Mahbubnagar has been in the forefront in allotting pensions for all the eligible persons in the district.
The Minister said that the Racchabanda would be held soon to allocate Inidramma houses, pensions and ration cards who had so far not received. Some sarpanches brought the notice of the Minister regarding the joint check power to the sarpanches. The Minister assured the sarpanches that she would take up the matter with the government to get it solved.
Speaking to newsmen, the minister condemned the police highhandedness against the Telangana activists. She said that though the police gave permission to only 15,000 NGOs, more than 50,000 NGOs attended the meeting. The police who had put hurdles to the Telangana meetings, have accorded police escort to the NGOs buses.
