MHA reviews situation in Naxal-affected areas
The review of Naxalite- affected areas in the country by the Union Home Ministry here on Friday saw focus on intelligence network and deployment of highly trained forces to tackle the same.The meeting was attended by the DGPs of the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Anurag Sharma and J V Ramudu along with the DGs of other States.

While, reviewing the Naxal problem in the states, the meeting also addressed the socio-economic indicators of the areas as emphasised upon by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in the last visit to Dantewada. Picking up a cue from his viewpoint on rehabilitation programme of surrendered Naxalites and also to wean away the youth from being attracted to extremism, the Union Home Secretary, L C Goyal, asked to DGPs to concentrate on the same. It is learnt that the issue of funds for modernisation of police forces to arm them with the latest weapons and gadgets had also cropped up.
