elec2 Nizamabad: Minister for Major Irrigation P Sudharshan Reddy exuded confidence that the power supply problems prevailing in Nizamabad Municipality would be sorted out soon as the State Government sanctioned Rs 16 crore to the district under the District Central Grant category. Speaking to the media after laying a foundation stone for the construction of 33/11 KV sub-station at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore near Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan in Nizamabad town on Saturday, the Minister said that since the Nizamabad town had been facing the low-voltage problem for some time, he had taken up the matter to the notice of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who immediately sanctioned the fund for setting up an electricity sub-station in the town. On the occasion, he directed the electricity officials to complete the construction works of the sub-station within two months as the Government was likely to sanction another Rs 1 crore to the sub-station if the proposed works would be completed in a stipulated period. With the construction of 33/11 KV sub-station, the people residing in Subash Nagar, Hamalwadi, Nandedwada, Kanteshwar, Ayyappa temple, Bank Colony and its surrounding areas in Nizamabad town would be relieved from load shedding and erratic power supply, Sudharshan Reddy said. The Minister directed the authorities concerned to maintain quality in works and complete the sub-station in a stipulated period. A He also cautioned the contractors of facing severe punishment if they indulged in irregularities. Lok Sabha member from Nizamabad Madhu Yashki Goud, Government Whip Anil Kumar, MLA Yendela Laxmi Narayana, Joint Collector Harshavardhan, RDO Hanmanth Reddy and senior officials of the electricity department were present. Minister Sudharshan Reddy released 30 TMC of water from the SRSC project to its canals. Later, he visited Armoor and Balkonda Assembly constituencies and took part in several development programmes.
