Washington: An American teenager acted even faster than a robot and set a new world record after solving Rubik's Cube in just 5.25 seconds at an official World Cube Association competition.

Collin Burns lopped an impressive 0.3 seconds off the world record for solving a the Cube at the completion in Doylestown, Pennsylvania with a regulation and pre-scrambled cube, the Verge reported.

A representative from the association said that the competition was performed with all the rules being followed and scramble being checked for its correctness and confirmed that the teen set the new official WCA world record for the 3x3x3 single solve category.

Notably, Burns beat the previous record of 5.55 seconds that was set in the Netherlands by Mats Valk in 2013.
