Ongole: The police arrested Gudupalli Venkat Rao, a native of Kondepi village in Prakasam district on Saturday for allegedly marrying fourteen times duping girls in different parts of the state in the last ten years donning the role of ever green groom
According to Ongole Dy. SP Joshua, Venkata Rao who also used different names such as Chandrasekhar Reddy, Srinivas Reddy and Chandu married his niece ten years ago. After a son was born, he deserted his wife and disappeared.
In these ten years, he posed as rich bachelor and married Lakshmi in Khammam, Radha in Madhira, Pavani in Gadwal and Pavitra in Ongole. His modus operandi was collected cash and jewellery from the brides, disappears from there, and repeats the same thing in another part of the state.
Recently, he duped Pavitra in the Housing Board colony in Ongole and kidnapped her to marry her. On a complaint from the parents of the girl, police nabbed Venkat Rao following the trail of his mobile telephone. On interrogation, he reportedly confessed his crimes. The police seized a car, a motor bike, jewellary worth Rs. 10 lakhs and some cash. The Circle Inspector Srinivas Rao said the police registered a case and investigation is progressing.
