Suitable location for staircase

Hyderabad: Correct staircase at home plays a vital role in Vastu. A staircase must be constructed with according to orientation of the house so that no discrepancy arises. Vastu has some norms scripted for staircase for a successful life and good health of inmates.

Most houses consist of multiple floors and require structures to bridge the vertical distance between them. Normally, the medium used are stairways available in plethora of shapes (such as round, straight, etc) and materials (concrete, wooden, etc).

A staircase must always be built in the western or southern part of the house. Staircase in the north-east corner leads to loss of wealth. The business comes to a standstill. The owner of the building could face bankruptcy due to financial losses. In fact, staircase in any corner except west or south brings losses. An external staircase can be built in the southeast direction facing east, south-west direction facing west, north-west direction facing north, and south-west direction facing south.

Always begin your stairs from north to south or east to west. A turn can also be taken to other sides. Stairs must always have an odd number and the number must never end with a zero. The vertical set of stairs should also have an odd number and when divided by three their remnant must be two.

Never make circular staircases as they have the ability to cause bad health. Also, a staircase encircling the building can lead to severe calamites. The room which has a staircase in the south-west corner of a basement is not auspicious, as per the Vastu, the inmates experience high blood pressure, undiagnosed diseases, anemia and the like.

Construct doors at the end and beginning of each staircase. Also, it's important to make sure the stairs don't touch the northern or eastern walls. Try constructing staircases in such a way that stairs are not openly visible to the visitors. Stairs that are directly visible to outsiders are thought to be inauspicious.

Broken stairs must be repaired instantly, as they may lead to tensions and accidents. Rooms such as bathroom, kitchen, or pooja room should never be built under a staircase. If a linear staircase is constructed, it must begin from north to south or east to west (inside or outside the house).

Colors for Staircase

Staircases must always be painted in light colors and shades such as red and black should be avoided completely. The staircases should always turn clockwise in direction when turning into the next flight.

A circular or spiral staircase should be avoided. A A staircase for going upstairs and to the basement should not be a common one. The uppermost stairs should not be left open it should be covered with a roof. A Staircases should not be in the central square of the building or the Brahma sthanam. A Ideal size of the staircase steps is 6" high and 10" deep.

The best place for a staircase is in the east facing home is the south-east corner. Second option is at the north-west corner of the house.A The staircase should rise from east to west or from northern to the southern direction.

North-west corner: The staircase must be started on the western side of the north side without touching the compound wall towards west. Make a landing in the midway and turn towards east. Finish the landing over a balcony or a portico towards north-east corner.

South-east corner: Start the staircase on the southern side of the east without touching the compound wall towards south. Make a landing at the midway and turn towards the north. Finish the landing over a balcony or a portico towards north-east corner. This staircase should not be closed on top.

South-west corner: Start the staircase on the western side of the south side without touching the compound wall in the south side towards west. Make a landing at the midway and turn towards the east. Finish the landing over a balcony or a portico towards south-east corner.

This staircase should be closed on top. Staircases in the apartments or flats should be in the south-west, south and the west. As an alternative staircases in the north-west and the south-east are also acceptable. According to Vastu, staircases towards the north-east, the east and the north should be avoided.
