Opposes separate SC, ST colonies.

no2Srikakulam: Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasad Rao said that there is need for all to live in a harmonious atmosphere for establishing an egalitarian society. He was the chief guest at the 123rd Jayanthi celebrations of Dr BR Ambedkar organised by the district administration at the local Ambedkar auditorium. The minister hoped that the inequalities in the society would end soon.

There can be no peace in the society where there is hunger, tears, agony and frustration and there is a need to remove these, he said. He said that it was his personal opinion that instead of constructing separate houses for the SCs, these should be included within the colonies where people from all sections reside. With this there will be an intermingling of the practical affairs, traditions and systems leading to a harmonious atmosphere, he said.

If injustice is done to the SCs and STs they should face it boldly and fight for their rights, he said.

On this occasion Minister of State for IT and Communication, Dr Killi Kruparani, said that Dr Ambedkar successfully strove for the uplift of the Dalits. The Congress government alone has been striving for the welfare of the SCs, STs and BCs, she added.

Earlier, Mr Dharmana Prasad Rao and Ms Kruparani paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Ambedkar near the local RTC Complex.
